Order Pre-Validation in the Ready to Ship table

Learn how order pre-validation in the “Ready to Ship” table helps detect missing or invalid info before label generation. Understand the difference between generic and carrier-specific checks.

1. What is the order pre-validation?

The order pre-validation feature in the “Ready to Ship” table automatically checks all orders for missing or invalid information that could cause issues when generating shipping labels. It reviews key fields such as:

  • Sender address
  • Recipient address
  • Order details
  • Shipping documentation

This process helps prevent errors returned by carriers and avoids potential delays or additional costs due to shipments being held.

2. Validation Results

There are two types of validation results:

  • Warnings (yellow triangle): These suggest that some fields may cause issues with certain carriers. We recommend reviewing and correcting them if needed.
These warnings will not block you, you could still ignore them and proceed with the label creation.

  • Errors (red circle): These indicate invalid or missing inputs that will block label generation until they are fixed.

You can hover over the warning or error icon to view more details about the issue, allowing you to adjust the order before shipping.

You can enable or disable these validations directly from the table settings.

3. Validation Differences

Please note that the validations shown in the Ready to Ship table and those in the Ship/Edit modals may differ:

  • Table validations are based on general best practices and apply broadly across most carriers.
  • Modal validations are tailored to the specific carrier selected.

As a result:

  1. An order may show no warnings or errors in the table, but display some in the modal – this means it passes general checks, but fails those required by the selected carrier.

  2. An order may have warnings or errors in the table, but none in the modal – this means the selected carrier has less strict requirements than the general ones.

  3. The warnings or errors may differ between the table and modal views.

In all cases, always refer to the modal validations as the final reference, since they are specific to the selected carrier. Changing the carrier may result in different warnings or errors.
