How to Connect DHL Connect to ShippyPro

This guide explains the process to integrate DHL Connect with ShippyPro. Follow the steps below to establish the connection and access additional features.

1. Before You Start

To connect DHL Connect to ShippyPro, you must obtain specific credentials from your DHL Connect sales representative or commercial contact. The required credentials include:

  • Account Number
  • Return Account Number
  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
  • User Identification

2. Carrier's Configuration

Once you’ve received confirmation from DHL, follow these steps to complete the integration:

  1. Navigate to Carriers in ShippyPro and click on the DHL Connect logo.
  2. Enter the following details:
    • Account Number
    • Return Account Number
    • Client ID
    • Client Secret
    • User Identification
    • Bank Name (for COD purposes)
    • Bank Location
    • Bank Account Holder
    • IBAN
    • BIC
    • Direct Injection Country: Enter a 2-digit country code (e.g., ES, UK, DE).
    • Direct Injection City
    • Direct Injection Postcode
    • Location ID (optional, for ParcelEurope.return.international)
    • Label Type: Choose ZPL or PDF.
    • Service: Select one of the following services:
      • Parcel Connect
      • Parcel Return Connect
      • Parcel Europe Parcel International
      • Parcel Europe Return International
    • Sender Address: Add this in the My Addresses section and specify your Origin Country (optional).
    • Origin Country: Enter a 2-digit country code (optional).
    • Doorstep: Enable this option for home delivery.
    • Display Reference Number: Adds an additional barcode on the label (requires DHL pre-authorization).
      • The barcode encodes the order number imported from your sales channel.
    • Use Marketplace Order Number to Generate Tracking URL: Uses the marketplace order number as the key for the tracking URL.
    • Print Return Label: Prints a return label alongside the outbound shipment label.

📌 Important for COD Shipments:
If you are creating a COD shipment, ensure you provide the following details:

  • Direct Injection Country: Enter a 2-digit country code (e.g., ES, UK, DE).
  • Direct Injection City
  • Direct Injection Postcode

 

For return shipments via APIs using the Connect Return Service, the sender and receiver addresses will automatically switch. Enter the sender address in the from_address field and the recipient address in the to_address field as you would for an outbound shipment. The service will handle the reversal.

 

Limitation: The DHLConnect Return International service only supports PDF labels due to technical restrictions.

4. Troubleshooting & Errors

  • Unauthorized Request:
    This error typically occurs if your credentials are incorrect or your account isn’t activated. Contact your DHL sales representative to confirm your credentials and account status.
  • Country Configuration for [VALUE] is not available in CCC Database:
    This error indicates that the Direct Injection Country field has not been correctly configured. Navigate to Carriers > DHL Connect, select "Edit," and enter a valid 2-digit country code (e.g., ES, UK, DE).
  • Error 1: Error Path: /dataElement/cPAN/addresses/recipient/street1Nr; Error Message: Value does not conform to datatype:
    Ensure the Address 1 field is correctly formatted. Add the street number at the end of the address.
  • Duplicate Tracking Numbers:
    DHL Connect reuses tracking numbers after 13 months. This may cause the same tracking number to appear for different shipments.
